Boseong-gun Selected for 'Smart Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Model Support Project' Contest

Adding Safety to Welfare:
The Smart ON Village 600 Project

Boseong County in Jeollanam-do announced that its project, "Adding Safety to Welfare! Smart ON Village 600 Project," has been selected for the "2025 Smart Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Model Development Support Project for Towns, Townships, and Neighborhoods," hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

This public contest project aims to address welfare and safety blind spots caused by the increase in single-person households, aging population, and social isolation by transforming the functions of township administrative welfare centers (township offices) into field-oriented welfare and safety service hubs.

The county plans to establish a Welfare and Safety Council in 12 towns and townships within its jurisdiction to strengthen the community-based autonomous safety capacity. Utilizing the project budget of 40 million KRW, it will implement region-specific safety management initiatives such as installing solar-powered LED lights, providing smart safety canes, and distributing reflective safety covers for electric vehicles.

In particular, the county intends to build a comprehensive and tightly-knit welfare and safety system by linking with existing welfare human safety networks, such as the "Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force" for residential safety inspections and daily inconvenience improvements, the "Namdo Love Volunteer Group" for providing daily safety kits, and the "Women's Volunteer Association" for supplying safe and healthy food.

Kim Chulwoo, the governor of Boseong County, stated, "It is meaningful that this public project will allow us to provide customized, practical services to seniors who are vulnerable to safety issues," and added, "By adding safety to welfare, we will do our best to make Boseong County a safe and happy place for all residents."
