This year's theme for the Lotte Family Skyrun is set as 'A Beautiful Challenge Together with Lotte Labor and Families.' A total of 2,200 employees and their families will participate in the challenge of climbing to the 123rd floor, the highest floor of Lotte World Tower.
First launched in 2018, the Lotte Family Skyrun symbolizes the joint challenge of labor and management with the common goal of reaching the top of Lotte World Tower. It represents the values of labor-management harmony and communication, which are key to Lotte's corporate culture. The event has become the most popular within the group, with up to 6,000 applicants each year.
Chairman Shin Dong-bin of Lotte has emphasized the value of diversity within the organization, establishing the 'Lotte Group Diversity Charter' in 2013 and applying it throughout group management. The company explained that the Lotte Family Skyrun is an event reflecting efforts to create a flexible organizational culture as part of the Diversity Charter.
This year, in response to participants' requests, a competitive category will be newly introduced, with awards given separately for individuals and affiliates. The affiliates participating in the competitive category include Lotte Property & Development, Lotte Cultural Foundation, Lotte Global Logistics, Lotte Innovate, and Lotte Members, totaling five companies. For each affiliate, three male and three female employees will participate as runners in a relay format to reach the top of Lotte World Tower. The participating runners can be freely composed of new employees, CEOs, foreign staff, etc., by each affiliate. The winning company will be awarded Lotte gift certificates worth 1,230,000 KRW.
A Lotte official said, "The Lotte Family Skyrun is an event where labor and management jointly challenge the goal of reaching the top of Lotte World Tower, and a festival enjoyed by employees and their families."
