Kim Dong-yeon: "Han Deok-su's Nomination as Constitutional Court Justice is an Abuse of Power"

"Need to Respond to Tariff Bomb Triggered by Trump"

Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon criticized Acting President Han Deok-soo's nomination of a constitutional court justice for the president's quota on the 8th, saying, "There are things that must be done and things that must not be done."

On the same day, Governor Kim wrote on his Facebook, addressing Acting President Han, "It is something that should not be done to nominate a constitutional court justice for the president's quota today. This is not an exercise of authority but an abuse of power."

He pointed out, "He is not doing what he should be doing. That is responding to the tariff bomb triggered by Trump," adding, "Currently, companies are taking the full brunt of tariffs amid the government's lack of measures. They are left to fend for themselves in a jungle of survival, crying out that they will inevitably go bankrupt if this continues."

He continued, "In the next two months, the only thing the acting president must do is to minimize the damage caused by the tariff bomb triggered by Trump," raising his voice, "Even putting in 120% effort would not be enough."

Governor Kim wrote, "I hope that even now, the nomination of the constitutional court justice will be withdrawn and that the acting president will fulfill his role and responsibility in enhancing economic resilience," adding, "Economic time does not wait for the next government."

Earlier, Acting President Han nominated Lee Wan-gyu, head of the Ministry of Government Legislation, and Ham Sang-hoon, chief judge of the Seoul High Court, as successors to Justices Moon Hyung-bae and Lee Mi-seon, who were appointed for the president's quota.
