The police will respond swiftly and thoroughly to election crimes 24 hours a day, centered around the Election Crime Investigation Situation Rooms. In addition, a dedicated investigation team will be activated to strengthen intelligence gathering on various illegal election activities, and a close cooperation system will be established with related organizations such as regional election commissions and prosecutors' offices.

In particular, the police have selected the following as the 'five major election crimes' that seriously undermine the fairness of elections: ▲ bribery ▲ dissemination of false information ▲ involvement of public officials in elections ▲ election violence ▲ illegal mobilization of organizations. Those who commit these illegal acts, those who plan or order the crimes behind the scenes, and the sources of illegal funds will be strictly cracked down on regardless of their affiliated party or status.

The police also plan to monitor the dissemination of false information through social networking services (SNS) that adversely affect the public's right to make proper choices, various illegal activities related to opinion polls, and illegal activities related to intra-party primaries.

Lee Ho-young, Acting Commissioner of the National Police Agency, said, "Since the election is held in a chaotic situation, I believe the police have a heavy role and responsibility as the central investigative agency for election crimes," adding, "To support a fair election, we will respond swiftly and strictly to various election crimes and manage them thoroughly with a strict stance of neutrality."
