Smart Senior Centers and ICT-Based Health Management Program
Promoting Health for the Elderly
The Busan Ulsan Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the National Health Insurance Service (Director: Cho Junhee) will operate a non-face-to-face exercise class in cooperation with the Smart Senior Centers managed by Geoje City every Monday and Thursday (twice a week) for three months, from April 14 to July 13.
The elderly population in Geoje City is about 230,000, accounting for approximately 16% of the total population, highlighting the need for continuous and systematic health management measures for seniors. In collaboration with Geoje City, the headquarters has established a system to strengthen community care functions by providing customized services using a video platform at 97 senior centers in nine districts of Geoje City by 2025.
Accordingly, the Busan Ulsan Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the National Health Insurance Service will operate a health promotion program called 'Senior Energy UP Sarangbang' twice a week for three months using an ICT platform to efficiently manage the health of senior citizens.
'Senior Energy UP Sarangbang' is a program that allows 4,067 members from 97 senior centers to communicate simultaneously with instructors and seniors at Smart Senior Centers through video screens, enjoying activities such as line dance, senior health exercises, and expert health lectures together. The program also aims to promote various health management information and health insurance systems.
The headquarters has been making significant efforts to prevent diseases and increase healthy life expectancy for local residents through citizen-participatory specialized projects every year, such as the Healthy 100 Years Exercise Class and Youth Health Experience School. The 'Senior Energy UP Sarangbang' exercise class at the Geoje Smart Senior Center is also expected to help seniors maintain a healthy lifestyle by overcoming the limitations of time and space through an indoor, non-face-to-face health promotion program.
Director Cho Junhee stated, "We are very pleased to provide a non-face-to-face exercise class program using Smart Senior Centers to help seniors improve their health. We hope this program will strengthen seniors' health management capabilities and contribute to the health promotion of the local community. We will continue to do our best to support various health promotion programs and improve quality of life, fulfilling our role as a health guardian."
