An official from the ministry stated, "We will convey Korea's concerns regarding the impact of the U.S. tariff measures on the global trade environment and trade and investment relations between Korea and the U.S.," adding, "We plan to discuss with the U.S. ways to minimize the negative effects of these measures on Korean companies."

During this visit, Jung plans to understand the U.S. government's specific stance and future plans regarding the tariff policies, including the tariff measures announced on the 2nd (local time), and to negotiate with the U.S. side focusing on Korea's position to reduce the 25% tariff rate imposed on Korea.

Jung said, "The imposition of country-specific tariffs as of the 2nd, including tariffs on steel, aluminum, automobiles, and automobile parts, is expected to cause significant difficulties for Korean exporters and Korean companies operating in the U.S., creating a serious situation," and added, "Including this visit, we will continue close communication with the U.S. through various means and make every effort in negotiations to minimize the impact of U.S. tariff policies, including country-specific tariffs, on Korean industries and businesses."
