Government Supports Uzbekistan Infrastructure and Urban Development Contract Acquisition

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that from the 7th, for three days, it will meet with the local Ministry of Transport in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to discuss ways to secure large-scale infrastructure projects such as high-speed rail and airports.


The export support team, led by Jin Hyun-hwan, the first vice minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, plans to meet with the deputy minister of transport locally and request smooth progress on the feasibility study for the new Tashkent~Samarkand high-speed rail line, funded by the Export-Import Bank's Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).


This project involves constructing a new 268 km line, with a consortium including Korea Railroad Corporation, Korea Rail Network Authority, SamAn, and Dongmyeong participating. They will discuss introducing Korean-style railway systems to the new and existing lines and exporting Korean general railway vehicles.


Regarding the expansion, operation, and maintenance of Urgench International Airport facilities, there are plans to showcase the excellence and experience of Korean technology. Incheon International Airport Corporation and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation have joined the consortium bidding for the project.

Vice Minister Jin is scheduled to meet with Rajabayev, head of the Uzbekistan Agency for Innovative Development, and Elmuratov, deputy head of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in urban development and smart cities. Through a program sharing our smart city technology related to the pharmaceutical cluster being established by the local government, they agreed to analyze conditions and assist in developing plans.


Additionally, Vice Minister Jin will meet with Mirzayev, governor of Tashkent, to discuss the Korean-style new town development project proposed by Korean companies. He plans to visit the Finance Center BFC, currently being constructed by Korean firms, to check on the project's progress and encourage on-site workers.


Vice Minister Jin stated, "Taking this dispatch of the export support team as an opportunity, we plan to strengthen the cooperation system with the Uzbek government in the field of urban development and activate exchanges. We will continuously enhance intergovernmental cooperation to expand the participation of our companies in the transportation infrastructure sector."
