Air Canada and T'way Air Recognized as 'Outstanding Transfer Airlines'

Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 7th that it held the 'Passenger Airline Incentive Program Briefing Session' to strengthen cooperation with airlines and listen to on-site opinions.

About 40 people attended the briefing session held on the 4th, including Lee Sang-yong, Head of the New Business Division, corporation executives and employees, and representatives from 15 airlines. The corporation shared the operational results of last year’s 'Passenger Airline Incentive' program, which is being implemented to create new passenger demand, and provided guidance on improvements for this year. Various opinions from airline representatives were also heard.

This program, implemented since 2008, provides incentives such as landing fee refunds, marketing support funds, and promotion points to airlines that achieve excellent performance in new routes, increased flights, and transfer sectors. It is evaluated to have greatly helped overcome the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, as well as strengthening cooperation between Incheon Airport and airlines and creating new airline demand.

The corporation also awarded two 'Outstanding Transfer Airlines' that contributed to the increase in transfer passengers at Incheon Airport last year. Air Canada, which had the largest increase in transfer rate (92.6%) among airlines operating at Incheon Airport, won in the 'Transfer Contribution' category, and T'way Air, which had the highest increase in transfer passengers (677.8%), won in the 'Transfer Growth' category.

Lee Hak-jae, President of the corporation, said, "Competition among airports worldwide is intensifying to capture the increasing air travel demand after the COVID-19 endemic." He added, "We will solidify cooperation with airlines and actively attract new airline demand by expanding region-specific customized marketing."
