Criticism Focused on Trump and Musk
Anti-Trump Protests Spread to Major European Cities
U.S. Democratic Party Moves to Impeach Trump
On the 5th (local time), large-scale protests opposing the unilateral governance of U.S. President Donald Trump occurred across the United States.
The protests, involving over 150 civilian organizations, spread to major cities such as Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, and Boston, with more than 1,200 demonstrations and marches. The total number of participants was reported to exceed 500,000. The protests mainly voiced opposition to President Trump's significant federal employee cuts, reduction of the federal government, health budget cuts, large-scale tariff policies, and the maintenance of a conciliatory relationship with Russia.
A particularly notable aspect of the protests was the strong backlash against President Trump and his close associate, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla. President Trump held fundraising events at his golf courses and resorts, while the emerging magnate Musk supported Trump’s policies such as public servant layoffs, sparking controversy. Protesters criticized both Trump and Musk together, chanting slogans strongly opposing the policies they lead.
The protests were not limited to the United States. Demonstrations against President Trump’s policies also took place in major European cities such as London, Paris, and Berlin. Especially in London’s Trafalgar Square, hundreds gathered, chanting slogans like “Throw Trump out.”
Within the U.S. Democratic Party, calls for impeachment against President Trump are growing louder. Senator Cory Booker of the Democratic Party criticized President Trump for 25 hours last month, setting the record for the longest speech in the history of the federal Senate, and urged citizens to participate, saying, “Now is the time to act.” Representative Al Green attended the “Hands Off” protest that day and announced plans to introduce an impeachment resolution against President Trump.
