Students from the Park Golf Management Department at Yeungjin College (President Choi Jaeyoung) are spreading warmth in the local community by voluntarily collecting donations to help neighbors affected by wildfires.
According to Yeungjin College on the 6th, the Park Golf Management Department recently organized a fundraising campaign to assist neighbors in the Gyeongbuk region who suffered significant damage from wildfires, raising and delivering a total of 8,165,000 won in donations.
Students from the Park Golf Management Department at Youngjin College gathered in one place for a commemorative photo as they launched a fundraising campaign to help residents affected by the wildfire.
The fundraising event was held on the 5th at the outdoor park golf practice field on the Global Campus, with all 16 classes of the department participating to express their hope for the swift recovery of the affected residents. The collected donations, gathered through the heartfelt contributions of each participant, have been highlighted as an exemplary case of solidarity and the spirit of sharing within the department.
In particular, students from the Park Golf Gunwi class raised 3,300,000 won and decided to deliver the funds directly to disaster victims in Uiseong, Yeongyang, and Cheongsong, where their fellow students reside, adding further significance to the effort.
Of the remaining donations, 1,430,000 won were contributed directly by each class to the Uiseong and Yeongdeok regional donation programs, while 3,435,000 won will be donated to the affected areas of Uiseong-gun, Yeongyang-gun, and Cheongsong-gun through the ‘Hometown Love Donation Program’ by Professor Cho Jinseok, head of the Park Golf Management Department.
Choi Sooni, a student who organized the fundraising event (representative of Class 2-A), said, “We could not turn a blind eye to the pain of our neighbors during this national disaster. I am grateful that my fellow students all participated with one heart, and I hope our small gesture will become a seed of comfort and hope for the affected residents.”
Professor Cho Jinseok, head of the department, stated, “I am proud of the students for voluntarily practicing the values of sharing and service. I hope this donation will provide courage and comfort to the affected residents and help them quickly regain their livelihoods.”
Meanwhile, the Park Golf Management Department at Yeungjin College is the first department among universities nationwide established to nurture professional talent in park golf. The department has achieved outstanding results in various competitions and is leading the spread of a healthy sports culture that brings together three generations.
