At around 2:43 PM on the 6th, a fire broke out at a scrap yard in Daedong-ri, Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province, prompting the fire authorities to issue a Level 1 response.
The Paju Fire Department issued a Level 1 response at around 2:43 PM and deployed 35 vehicles and 83 personnel to the scene to extinguish the fire. Additionally, a Korea Forest Service helicopter and wildfire suppression teams were urgently mobilized to assist in firefighting efforts.
The fire is believed to have started in outdoor piled materials rather than inside the building. So far, the spread of the fire to the outside has been contained, but the fire has not yet been fully extinguished.

According to the fire authorities, one foreign worker living near the scrap yard evacuated safely. The exact scale of human casualties and property damage is still under investigation.
The authorities plan to investigate the cause of the fire while cleaning up the remaining flames and are making every effort to prevent further damage.
Meanwhile, upon the outbreak of the fire, Paju City sent out a notification message advising residents to "close windows and pay attention to safety as a large amount of smoke is being generated due to the fire."
