Cooperating with State Government for New Employee Training
Creating 1,500 Jobs by 2027
LG Energy Solution's first cylindrical battery-dedicated factory in the United States, the Arizona plant, is progressing smoothly with the goal of mass production by the end of next year.
On the 5th, LG Energy Solution announced that it held an event inviting key regional stakeholders to the Arizona corporation to share the smooth progress of the factory construction and to celebrate the opening of a new talent training center. The event was attended by Na Heegwan, head of LG Energy Solution's Arizona corporation, as well as representatives from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and local government officials.
Na, the head of the corporation, explained, "More than half of the Arizona cylindrical battery factory construction has been completed, and we plan to start prototype production by mid-next year and begin full-scale mass production from the end of the year."
Recently, in cooperation with the Arizona state government and local educational institutions, training for new employees has begun at the new talent training center. The center was established under Arizona's 'Future48 Workforce Accelerator' program and is operated in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Commerce, Pinal County, and Central Arizona College.
LG Energy Solution expects to create approximately 1,500 new jobs by 2027, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and strengthening Arizona's status as a hub for advanced manufacturing.
LG Energy Solution currently operates and constructs a total of seven factories in the United States, including joint venture plants, and plans to further expand local production capacity through the operation of the Arizona plant to respond to the diversification of the electric vehicle market.
They have signed supply contracts for cylindrical 46-series batteries to be produced in Arizona with several global automakers such as Tesla and Rivian, and are discussing additional supply in line with the increasing demand for American-made batteries. Along with this, the strategy includes hiring and training local workforce to contribute to building a local battery industry ecosystem.
Na stated, "The Arizona plant will be more than just a production facility; it will be a platform that grows together with the local community. We will nurture local talent and work closely with partners to provide the best and first experience, leading the electrification era in the United States."
