Gwangju National University Department of Lifelong Education Integrates Digital and Welfare Education

Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 4th that the Graduate School’s Department of Lifelong Education will operate a convergence curriculum that combines digital competency and educational welfare competency to strengthen expertise in lifelong education.

The Department of Lifelong Education is offering the “Digital Lifelong Education” course, aimed at enhancing future educational competencies including artificial intelligence (AI) and digital literacy, as well as the “Lifelong Education for the Disabled” course, which integrates educational welfare required in social welfare fields.

The “Digital Lifelong Education” course, introduced this semester, is strengthening digital teaching competencies through practice-based projects utilizing AI. In addition, the “Lifelong Education for the Disabled” course, newly established last year, focuses on fostering professionals to promote lifelong education for people with disabilities and aims to develop students’ capabilities as educational welfare practitioners.

Professor Park Jinyoung, head of the department, said, “To operate the convergence curriculum, we are planning and running courses in collaboration with professors from the Department of Social Welfare and the Department of Computer Engineering, transcending majors and departments. In addition, we will further expand students’ career prospects and strengthen differentiated competitiveness by operating new curricula such as career planning and lifelong education for the elderly.”
