Man in His 30s Who Killed His Father Also Murdered His Older Brother Late Last Year

Busan Haeundae Police Uncover Fratricide During Parricide Investigation

A man in his 30s who killed his father with a weapon (as reported in our online edition on March 31) has shocked the public further after police investigations revealed that he had also murdered his older brother late last year.

Busan Haeundae Police Station announced on the 3rd that they had arrested and detained Mr. A (male) on charges of parricide for stabbing his father, a man in his 60s, multiple times with a weapon at an apartment in Haeundae-gu, Busan, on March 26.

During the investigation, police discovered that Mr. A had also killed his older brother in December of last year. The two cases will be combined, and Mr. A will be referred for detention on the 4th.

The police suspect that Mr. A committed the crimes with the intention of acquiring the family’s assets.

According to the police, on the early morning of March 26, Mr. A attacked his father, Mr. B, with a weapon several times at an apartment in Bansong-dong, Haeundae-gu, where Mr. B lived, and then fled the scene.

The police received a report from an acquaintance of Mr. B, stating, "I have not been able to reach him all evening." Upon arrival, they found Mr. B deceased and began tracking the suspect. Mr. A was apprehended on the road in Bansong-dong at around 4:40 p.m. on the 27th.

While investigating the specific motive after detaining Mr. A on the 30th, the police uncovered that he had also murdered his older brother, Mr. C, late last year.
