Holding Company and BNK Capital Each Donate 50 Million KRW for a Total of 100 Million KRW
Capital Division Implements Interest Reduction and Debt Adjustment for Businesses and Victims in Affected Areas
BNK Financial Group (Chairman Bin Daein) has donated 100 million KRW in relief funds and is promoting various financial support and relief activities to help the victims and displaced people affected by the massive earthquake that struck Myanmar on the 28th of last month.
BNK Financial Group is urgently implementing financial support for customers affected by the earthquake through the local subsidiary of BNK Capital (BNK Capital Myanmar Co., Ltd.). The group also plans to carry out debt adjustment measures such as interest reduction, deferment, reduction, and exemption of loan repayments for customers in the affected areas.
In addition to financial support, humanitarian non-financial assistance will also be provided. A total of 100 million KRW in relief funds will be contributed, with 50 million KRW each from BNK Financial Holdings and BNK Capital. Through the Group's Social Contribution Day event, all employees will be encouraged to donate items such as clothing, which will be delivered to local residents affected by the disaster. In addition, the affiliate BNK Busan Bank plans to donate 10 million KRW through the On Social Contribution Foundation to support emergency medical volunteer services.
With the 7.7 magnitude earthquake on the 28th of last month, the U.S. Geological Survey estimates that the number of casualties may exceed 10,000. A representative of BNK Capital Myanmar, where about 400 local employees including expatriates are working, stated, "Local residents who lost not only their families but also their livelihoods due to the earthquake are devastated. In cooperation with the Korean headquarters and holding company, we will actively promote not only financial support but also humanitarian non-financial assistance."
Last month, BNK Financial Group also fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by donating 300 million KRW in relief funds for domestic wildfire victims and preparing various financial support measures for the displaced.
A group representative said, "The earthquake in the country where our affiliate is based has led to a global wave of mourning and relief efforts," adding, "We will do our utmost to support prompt recovery and aid for the victims through BNK Capital Myanmar and related organizations."
