The ‘Yangju City Innovation Planning Group’ consists of up to 10 members including citizens, public officials, and service designers. It is an innovative policy unique to Yangju City that diagnoses problems from the citizens' perspective and seeks creative solutions. Its significance lies primarily in the fact that citizens take the lead in policy formation.
This year, the ‘Innovation Planning Group’ selected three major tasks: establishing effective measures to prevent youth gambling addiction, formulating preventive policies targeting students and parents vulnerable to drug crimes, and developing strategic plans to implement policy proposals from the Youth Participation Committee.
These efforts are evaluated as practical approaches to solving problems occurring within the local community.
At the first workshop, police officers, education office supervisors, related agency officials, and local residents gathered in one place to thoroughly analyze the issues from various perspectives for each task.
Additionally, they focused on deriving more effective policy directions by seeking solutions that reflect the actual demands of citizens.
Yangju City plans to organize specific implementation plans and prepare realistic measures based on these discussions at the second workshop, which will be held one month later.
A Yangju City official emphasized, “We will continuously operate the Innovation Planning Group, where citizens actively participate in the entire process of solving social problems, to establish more effective and practical policies,” and added, “We will do our best to create a Yangju City that thinks together with citizens and embraces change.”
