On the 2nd, Jeollanam-do held a ‘Mokpo City-Shinan County Major Issues Meeting’ at the Seo Jaepil Room of the provincial government office, presided over by Governor Kim Yungrok. The meeting discussed ways to minimize administrative gaps under the acting authority system following the Supreme Court ruling and reviewed regional issues.
The meeting was attended by Lee Sangjin, Acting Mayor of Mokpo (Deputy Mayor of Mokpo), Kim Daein, Acting County Governor of Shinan (Deputy County Governor of Shinan), and related officials from the provincial departments. They shared and discussed major issues of the two regions.
Acting Mayor Lee explained key issues such as the Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo, the establishment of a seafood export complex, and the construction of a local food promotion center. He requested smooth communication and cooperation between Jeollanam-do and Mokpo City in each sector to successfully host the National Sports Festival for All, which is 22 days away.
Acting County Governor Kim proposed provincial financial support (500 million KRW) for the construction of the Heuksando Memorial Park, and reported on major issues such as the renewable energy profit-sharing system, operation of public passenger and ferry services, and the creation of an island of culture and arts.
Governor Kim Yungrok asked the two acting officials to “operate city and county administrations stably to prevent any administrative vacuum, and do their utmost to ensure there are no setbacks in promoting major issues.”
He especially emphasized, “Be thorough in establishing discipline among public officials so that the local public sector does not become unsettled due to the vacancy of the heads of local governments, and strive to create a stable working atmosphere so that public officials can focus on their duties without distraction.”
He added, “In these unprecedentedly confusing and difficult times, the two acting officials must unite with public officials and residents to lead the region well over the next year. Jeollanam-do will also work closely together to overcome these challenging times and deliver stability and hope to the residents.”
