Recruitment of Service Users Begins Next Month
Creating Jobs for Youth
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will operate the 'Youth Social Service Corps'.
According to the province on the 2nd, the Youth Social Service Corps has been established to simultaneously create jobs and contribute to the local community by providing youth-led social services, and will begin recruiting service users in earnest starting this month.
This project focuses on expanding opportunities for youth participation in society and solving local community issues by having young people directly plan and operate social services.
In particular, to maximize the actual job creation effect for young people, a principle will be applied that requires at least 70% of all hired staff, excluding the project leader, to be youth.
This year, the selected operating organizations for the Youth Social Service Corps are: ▲ Korea Institute of Arts and Culture Education (Youth Physical Health Promotion) ▲ Bada Music and Play Mind Research Institute (Elementary Student Care and Learning Support).
The 'Youth Physical Health Promotion Service' operated by the Korea Institute of Arts and Culture Education offers customized health programs such as aerobic and strength exercises, diet management, and nutrition guidance for young people aged 18 to 39 residing in Jeonju, Gunsan, Iksan, and Wanju, aiming to improve youth health.
The 'Elementary Student Care and Learning Support Service' provided by Bada Music and Play Mind Research Institute targets elementary students in Gunsan and Gimje (children not yet enrolled may also participate upon submission of an admission notice), offering home-visit services to support the learning of elementary students in care blind spots such as dual-income and single-parent families.
In addition to reviewing the curriculum and homework support, the program also provides extracurricular activities in the arts, such as violin and flute lessons.
Since the recruitment period and number of participants differ by service area, those wishing to use the services must check the specific application procedures and recruitment periods with the administrative welfare center of their place of residence according to their resident registration, and complete the application in person at the center.
The province plans to provide tailored consulting to improve the service quality of the selected corps and will thoroughly monitor the entire process from user recruitment to service delivery.
A provincial official stated, "By having young people directly plan and provide social services, we aim to create a virtuous cycle of job creation and local community development," and added, "We will actively promote the program so that more residents can benefit."
