Gyeonggi Province will install 931 fixed shade shelters and 344 smart shade shelters that automatically operate by sensing temperature and humidity at major crosswalks with high pedestrian traffic. Additionally, 25 green integrated rest areas equipped with cooling devices will be set up at bus stops, with 7 of these rest areas specifically established at bus stops in transportation-disadvantaged remote areas to enhance residents' convenience. Furthermore, cooling fog systems (fine water particle spraying facilities) will be installed at 37 locations around multi-use facilities such as parks, roads, and markets.

Lee Jong-don, Director of the Safety Management Office, said, "We have planned to diversify heatwave mitigation facilities to minimize heat-related illness damage to residents caused by heatwave disasters intensified by climate change," adding, "We will make every effort to prepare for natural disasters in the summer season."

Currently, Gyeonggi Province has 13,569 heatwave mitigation facilities installed, including shade shelters and green integrated rest areas.
