Baemin Actively Publishes Books Across Various Fields at the Corporate Level
Books Serve as Records Sharing the Value of Baemin's Services with Readers
'These Days Elegant AI Development' is the title of a book placed in the new releases section of bookstores nationwide starting from the 1st. The author is 'Woowa Brothers,' the very company behind the Baedal Minjok service. This book, which became a bestseller in the computer science category upon release, was written by about 20 employees who plan and develop the Baemin service. It has attracted attention for containing AI technologies applied in actual projects and vivid development experiences. This is not the first time Woowa Brothers have published a book as an author. They actively promote communication through books to share the know-how accumulated within the company.
On the 2nd, Woowa Brothers announced that they have been publishing books related to technology or general management annually since 2022. The authorship of Woowa Brothers’ books traces back to the 2022 publication of the standalone book 'What Is Going On!' This book is about Woowa Brothers’ work culture. It includes insights gained through the attempts, failures, and growth processes of the company, with participation from members including the founder and former chairman Kim Bong-jin.
The following year, they published 'These Days Elegant Development,' which contains the growth and concerns of developers. Composed of 26 articles written directly by members of Woowa Brothers’ development organization, this book covers not only development stories but also Baemin’s organizational culture and service planning. The subsequent book, 'Elegant TypeScript,' introduced practical technical applications for frontend developers.
Last year, they wrote 'The Font That Earns a Living,' which summarizes branding and marketing projects using Baemin’s unique font. Additionally, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Baemin Academy, they published 'Asking About the Food Service Industry,' which contains stories from 15 food service business owners and insights from 5 industry experts. In line with the publication’s purpose of coexistence with food service owners, the book was linked to social contribution, donating all sales royalties to Good Neighbors to support children suffering from food insecurity. Although not written directly by Woowa Brothers, 'The Taste of Life These Days,' a collection of food essays by writers serialized in Baemin’s newsletter, was published up to two volumes.
Baemin’s love for books is evaluated to have grown proportionally with the content they have accumulated. Since the early days of the startup, Baemin has supported unlimited book purchase expenses to help employees buy books beneficial for self-development and growth, fostering a reading culture within the company. In 2022, they participated in the Seoul International Book Fair, the largest book festival in Korea, setting up a booth. This was to exhibit food-related written content they had written and collected over more than ten years and to communicate with visitors. The food content accumulated by Baemin included various authors’ food essays and the food documentary magazine ‘F,’ which deeply explores a single ingredient. Through this, Baemin has conveyed that it is a brand delivering not only food but also content related to food.
A Woowa Brothers representative said, "Books created by Baemin have become another channel to communicate with service users," adding, "Books are significant as records that share the value of Baemin’s services with readers."
