Maintaining a 24-Hour Emergency Contact System
Full Commitment to Wildfire Prevention
Wanju County in North Jeolla Province has decided to cancel the 'Wanju Moaksan Wellness Festival,' which was scheduled to take place from the 5th to the 6th, following the issuance of a 'Severe' level national disaster crisis alert due to simultaneous large-scale wildfires in the Yeongnam region.
The county announced on the 1st that an emergency meeting was held on the 31st of last month, and the decision to cancel the event was made in light of the serious social atmosphere where all citizens must overcome the crisis due to casualties and displaced residents caused by the large wildfires.

The Moaksan Wellness Festival is an event centered around Moaksan, featuring various programs related to 'health, happiness, and healing,' including performances, exhibitions, and hands-on experiences.
Given that the festival is themed around the mountain, the county has decided to cancel the event entirely and focus all efforts on wildfire prevention.
County Governor Yoo Heetae strongly urged the reinforcement of wildfire prevention and initial response systems at the emergency meeting attended by department heads, including expanding the deployment of wildfire monitoring personnel and strengthening patrols along major hiking trails and forest-adjacent areas.
Accordingly, the county will maintain a 24-hour emergency contact system to enable immediate response in the event of a wildfire, intensify wildfire surveillance and prevention publicity activities, and strictly crack down on the illegal burning of agricultural by-products and household waste.
Governor Yoo stated, "We apologize to those who were looking forward to the festival, but as wildfires have also occurred in nearby areas such as Muju, Gochang, and Jeongeup, we were inevitably forced to prioritize safety and cancel the event. We ask for your special attention and cooperation in wildfire prevention, and we will strive to hold the festival again in a better environment in the future."
