As the impeachment trial verdict date for President Yoon Suk-yeol was announced to be on the 4th, the police have begun early implementation of a "vacuum state" near the Constitutional Court.
On the 1st, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that starting from the afternoon, they would create a vacuum state within approximately a 100-meter radius around the Constitutional Court, prohibiting public access. This notification was given to the National Defense Lawyers' tent protest in front of the Constitutional Court. The plan to establish the vacuum state, originally scheduled for a day or two before the verdict, was moved up.
The police will begin by setting up barricades in front of the Constitutional Court and proceed to enforce the vacuum state in the surrounding area. This security posture is equivalent to that on the verdict day to prepare for any possible incidents.
Additionally, the police have started to restrict vehicle traffic on Bukchon-ro, heading from Anguk Station intersection towards the Constitutional Court.
