Strengthening Accident Response and Safety Measures
Through Close Cooperation with the NC Team
On the 1st, the Changwon Facilities Corporation in Gyeongnam announced that it would do its utmost to swiftly handle the aftermath of the accident in which a spectator lost their life at Changwon NC Park Masan Stadium, and to establish measures to prevent recurrence, in close cooperation with the NC team.
The Corporation stated, "We express our deepest condolences to the deceased who passed away due to the sudden accident at the baseball stadium, and we wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured."
The accident occurred at 5:20 p.m. on the 29th of last month, when an attached fixture (aluminum louver) installed for exterior purposes near the window of the NC team's 4th-floor office at Changwon NC Park Masan Stadium fell, resulting in injuries to three people.
Immediately after the accident, the Corporation formed a countermeasure headquarters and held an on-site countermeasure meeting at 6:15 p.m. that day at the Masan Baseball Center office, presided over by the acting chairman of the board, with heads of safety-related departments in attendance to discuss future measures.
Further related countermeasure meetings were held on the 30th and 31st, focusing on identifying the cause of the accident, handling the aftermath, and establishing measures to prevent recurrence.
The Corporation explained that, according to the 'Use and Profit Permission Agreement,' the NC side is responsible for the routine maintenance and operation of Changwon NC Park Masan Stadium, while the Corporation only carries out repairs and maintenance of major structural components.
The Corporation stated that all legally mandated safety inspections of major structural components have been carried out properly, and no abnormalities have been found so far. It was also noted that the fallen fixture was not included in the inspection targets.
Accordingly, the Corporation has urgently requested the NC team to check and report whether there is any damage to the attachment points of similar fixtures, such as signs and windows, in the area where the accident occurred.
Lee Kyungyun, acting chairman of the Corporation, said, "Once again, we sincerely express our condolences to the deceased, and we will do our utmost to implement all safety measures and prevent similar accidents in the future."
