Busan City and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency to Support Production and Marketing of Excellent Publishing Content

Production Support of 5 Million KRW per Project,
A Welcome Boost for the Local Publishing Industry
Consortiums for Marketing Support Receive Extra Points and Double Funding Starting This Year

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (President Kim Taeyeol) are launching a support program to bring tangible vitality to the local publishing industry.

The strategy is to reduce production costs and expand promotional opportunities, such as participation in book fairs, to support the sustainable growth of local publishers.

The two organizations will be recruiting publishers to participate in the "2025 Excellent Publishing Content Production and Marketing Support Program" from April 1 to 21. Since 2020, they have continuously implemented various support projects to revitalize the local publishing industry.

The program is divided into two categories: production support and marketing support. For production support, a total of five projects will be selected, each receiving 5 million KRW. This covers the entire production process, including cover design, interior editing, typesetting, and printing, providing a practical foundation for content planning and physical production.

For marketing support, three projects will be selected, each receiving 4 million KRW. This is double the amount provided last year. Notably, starting this year, additional points will be awarded if two or more publishers form a consortium to participate. With the increased funding per project, it is expected that more effective promotion and market expansion, including participation in domestic and international book fairs, will be possible.

The support period runs from the time of selection until November of this year, and any publisher with a business location in Busan may apply. In particular, one-person publishers will receive additional points during the selection evaluation. Eligible fields include humanities and general knowledge, social sciences, science, literature, and children’s books. More details can be found on the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency website under the business announcement board.

Kim Taeyeol, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, stated, "The publishing industry is a fundamental industry that serves as the root of various content industries," and added, "We hope this project will energize the creative activities of local publishers and lead to the discovery of outstanding content."

Applications can be submitted by email until 4:00 p.m. on April 21. For further inquiries, please contact the Convergence Content Division.
