Daejeon Office of Education and Police Conduct Unannounced Inspections for Illegal Recording Devices in Schools

The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 1st that, in response to the new school year, it will conduct unannounced inspections at 148 elementary, middle, and high schools in cooperation with six police stations by the 23rd to eradicate illegal filming in school restrooms.

The number of schools targeted has increased by 42.3% compared to 104 schools last year, and these inspections will be conducted separately from the regular checks carried out by the schools themselves.

The inspections will utilize the latest multi-detection equipment capable of thermal imaging and infrared lens detection, with two-person teams inspecting restrooms and changing rooms where illegal filming is a concern.

For facilities with holes or scratches that could potentially be used to install illegal cameras, school principals will be advised to make improvements.

Kang Uichang, Director of Future Life Education, stated, "We will continue to carry out unannounced inspections of illegal filming devices in cooperation with relevant agencies to create a safe educational environment free from digital sex crimes."
