A Child's Cry of "Monster Under the Bed" Leads to Discovery of Hidden Intruder
Babysitter Finds Man Hiding; Suspect Arrested After Fleeing the Scene
An incident occurred in a U.S. household where, after a child said "there is a monster under the bed," a hidden man was discovered under the bed.
According to foreign media including CNN on the 27th (local time), police were dispatched to a residence in Barton County, Great Bend, Kansas, following a disturbance report around 10:30 p.m. on the 24th.
At the residence where the incident occurred, a babysitter was preparing to put the children to bed. Suddenly, one of the children complained, as if in a scene from a horror movie, that "there is a 'monster' under the bed." To reassure the frightened child, the babysitter checked under the bed for the monster. At that moment, he discovered a man hiding under the bed.
Local police stated, "The babysitter intended to inform the child that there was nothing under the bed, but instead encountered the suspect hiding there," adding, "A struggle occurred between the babysitter and the man hiding, during which one child fell."
The 27-year-old suspect fled the scene immediately after being discovered by the babysitter. However, after a brief chase, police arrested the man the following morning. The man was identified as Martin Villarobos Jr. According to CNN’s review of online court records, the suspect had been charged with threats, domestic violence, and violation of a restraining order in January and February, and had posted bail. It was also revealed that he had once lived in the house where he was hiding and was under a restraining order at the time of the incident.
The reason why the man broke into the residence is unknown. The judge ordered him to be held without bail this time. The suspect is currently detained at the county jail on charges including illegal entry, assault, child abuse, and obstruction of official duties.
