Water accumulated on the tracks at Gajwa Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, causing subway operations in both directions between Digital Media City Station (DMC) and Gongdeok Station to be suspended.
The newly established Gajwa Station subway entrance due to the opening of the Gyeongui Line DMC~Gongdeok section.
According to Korail on the 31st, water entered part of the tracks at Gajwa Station around 8:42 a.m., leading to a suspension of train operations from 11:10 a.m.
Korail immediately initiated an inspection procedure upon the incident and operated trains at reduced speeds where possible without disruption. However, anticipating that the incident response would take time, train operations were temporarily halted.
Korail is investigating the exact cause, suspecting that an electrical supply failure hindered drainage.
