A total project budget of 5 billion KRW is planned to be invested in the Yuldong District of Ayeong-myeon from 2022 until next year, with the goal of revitalizing the area. The project was selected through a public contest by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in September 2022, after which a basic plan was established and full-scale implementation began.

As the first phase, the city purchased five livestock farms (ten buildings) designated for rural area improvement, and demolition was completed in March of this year after negotiations with the owners. This process is a key foundational step for local regeneration, and the improved spaces will later be utilized for various development projects.

The Yuldong District regeneration project is largely divided into three main areas. The first is a project to support the initial settlement of return-to-farm and return-to-village residents, which includes constructing five units of Happy Housing for prospective returnees and establishing a training farm. Through this, Namwon City plans to help newcomers settle stably in the region.

The second area focuses on improving the living conditions of existing village residents. This includes projects such as improving village paths, creating village forests, and building community rest areas. These efforts aim to enhance the convenience of daily life for local residents and further strengthen the sense of community.

The third area is a project to support the smooth integration of return-to-farm/return-to-village residents with existing villagers. To this end, educational programs to strengthen resident capabilities and continuous training and consulting for newcomers will be provided, with these programs scheduled to be implemented in stages until next year. Through these efforts, it is expected that newcomers will be able to settle well in the region and establish a foundation for cooperation with existing residents.

Mayor Choi Kyungshik said, "The Rural Space Improvement Project is expected to play an important role not only in revitalizing the local economy, but also in ensuring the stable settlement of newcomers and improving the quality of life for existing residents."
