K Bank Prevents Voice Phishing Damage with AI... First in the Financial Sector

K Bank is actively working to prevent voice phishing damage in advance using AI technology in collaboration with KT.

On the 31st, K Bank announced that it will be the first financial institution to introduce the 'AI Voice Phishing Detection Information' provided by KT through the Safe Call application (app) Hoohu into its financial fraud prevention system. This is to prevent customer damage from increasingly sophisticated voice phishing and to establish a safer financial service usage environment.

The 'AI Voice Phishing Detection Information' is a service where AI analyzes call content in real time to detect suspicious voice phishing calls and issue warnings. Anyone can use it regardless of their telecom carrier by installing the 'Hoohu' app on an Android smartphone and obtaining prior customer consent.

K Bank integrated this into its own financial fraud prevention system. If a K Bank customer using this service makes a call suspected of voice phishing, a voice phishing risk detection alert is automatically sent to K Bank.

K Bank reviews the risk alert and temporarily delays or blocks the customer's account transfer, or if necessary, directly contacts the customer to help prevent voice phishing damage in advance.

Going forward, K Bank plans to continuously enhance the financial fraud prevention system in cooperation with KT. First, it plans to equip a function that automatically sends warning alerts directly to K Bank customers within the first half of the year.

The plan is to detect voice phishing solely by voice patterns by learning the actual voice of voice phishing criminals, and to improve detection capabilities by training various external data into the abnormal transaction pattern analysis system. Furthermore, in cooperation with KT, K Bank aims to continuously enhance the financial fraud prevention system to respond to evolving phishing methods such as deep voice (voice synthesis and replication).

A K Bank official said, "It is meaningful to have established a proactive prevention system that can prevent voice phishing damage in advance by utilizing AI technology," and added, "As an AI-Powered Bank, we will do our best to ensure that K Bank customers can enjoy a safer financial environment."

Meanwhile, K Bank has been actively utilizing AI to strengthen security and financial expertise, including introducing a finance-specialized private large language model (LLM) for the first time among internet banks in February.
