"I’m Actually a Man"…Confession of the 'Chinese Tzuyang' with 32 Million Subscribers

Divorced Father with Teenage Son Pretended to Be a Woman
"I Started Cross-Dressing to Pick Up My Son Instead of His Mother"

A Chinese female "mukbang" influencer with over 30 million subscribers has sparked controversy after it was revealed that she is actually a cross-dressing man.

According to the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 27th, Liang Weixian, a mukbang influencer who rose to fame like a comet in 2018, recently confessed that although his biological sex is male, he lives as a woman. With about 32 million subscribers, he was not necessarily a better eater than other competitors, but he attracted attention due to his candid personality and the curiosity surrounding his gender. In the past, Liang Weixian introduced himself as a woman, spoke in a feminine tone, and acted like a woman. However, some pointed out his low baritone-like voice, leading to speculation that he was male.

Then, in 2022, he suddenly stopped all activities due to a legal dispute with the multi-channel network (MCN) he belonged to. Recently, Liang Weixian opened a new account and revealed his real name and biological gender identity. He confessed that his real name is Li Hangzhe and that he is male. He explained that the reason he cross-dresses is to be able to fulfill both parental roles alone after divorcing his wife, so he can raise his teenage son without any shortcomings. When his son complained that he had no mother to pick him up like other friends, he started cross-dressing and going to his son's school. Later, he felt more comfortable cross-dressing and naturally continued to do so without any special reason. Moreover, Liang Weixian underwent several plastic surgeries to express femininity. However, he did not have gender reassignment surgery.

After this fact was revealed, heated debates have erupted on local social networking services (SNS). Some netizens criticized Liang Weixian, saying "He deceived the viewers," while others responded, "I understand why he cross-dresses."
