Delayed Yoon Impeachment Trial Verdict... Pro- and Anti-Impeachment Rallies Nationwide Over the Weekend

With the Constitutional Court's ruling on President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment expected next month, large-scale rallies both for and against the impeachment are scheduled nationwide on the weekend of the 29th.


In Jeonju, Jeonbuk, the Yoon Seok-yeol Resignation Jeonbuk Movement Headquarters, composed of civic and social organizations including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, will hold a "Mass Civic March Urging Immediate Dismissal of Yoon Seok-yeol" at 2 p.m. on the 29th at Moraenae Market. Approximately 500 people are expected to attend. They will march along a 3 km route starting from Moraenae Market, passing through Jungang Market, Jeondong Cathedral, Hanok Village, and Omokdae.

In Gwangju, the Gwangju Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol Regime and Social Reform, which consists of about 180 civic and social organizations, will hold the 20th General Rally from 5 p.m. that day. Participants will march 1.6 km to the Gwangju District Court and then return to Democracy Square to again call for impeachment and condemn the Constitutional Court.


In Busan, the "Busan Emergency Action for Regime Resignation" plans to host a rally urging President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment from around 4 to 7 p.m. on Dongcheon-ro in Seomyeon. The registered number of participants is 7,000. The police will deploy about 200 officers to manage the rally.


In Ulsan and Jeju, rallies both supporting and opposing the impeachment will be held simultaneously. The conservative Christian group Save Korea will hold an anti-impeachment rally at 1 p.m. in front of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance on the main road in Nam-gu, Ulsan. The expected number of participants is 10,000. The rally will include Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil, as well as National Assembly members Kim Ki-hyun, Park Sung-min, and Jang Dong-hyuk.


On the same day, the Ulsan Regional Headquarters of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions will hold a pro-impeachment rally titled "Immediate Dismissal of Yoon Seok-yeol Ulsan Citizens' Rally" at 4 p.m. at the Lotte Department Store plaza in Nam-gu.


In Jeju, Save Korea will host an anti-impeachment rally at 2 p.m. in front of Jeju City Hall. The Yoon Seok-yeol Regime Resignation and Korean Society Great Transformation Jeju Action will hold a pro-impeachment rally at the same location at 6 p.m. on the same day.
