Gokseong County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that it held a basic training session for around 70 farmers who are either hoping to newly acquire or renew their Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification at the Wolpagwan Hall of the Okgwa-myeon Office on the 27th.
'Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)' is a system designed to supply consumers with safe agricultural products by establishing a safety management system from the production stage to the sales stage.
To obtain GAP certification, farmers are required to complete a mandatory two-hour basic training once every two years. The training covers essential information such as certification standards and procedures, practical guidelines, risk factor management standards, and the PLS (Positive List System) for pesticide residue limits.
This was the third training session following those held on the 12th and 14th. Farmers who were unable to attend can participate in the upcoming sessions at the Jukgok-myeon Office on April 2 and at the County Community Center on April 7. Additionally, the training can be completed online through the Agricultural Education Portal.
Currently, there are 808 GAP-certified farms in Gokseong County, covering 714 hectares and producing 17 items including apples. The county plans to continuously expand the number of certified farms by supporting certification fees and agricultural product safety inspection costs.
An official from the county stated, "As consumer demand for safe agricultural products increases, we will strengthen awareness of agricultural safety through education and build consumer trust by improving the quality of Gokseong's agricultural products."
