40 Members to Be Selected by April 30
Priority Given to People with Disabilities and Immigrants
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju is recruiting a Citizen Participation Group to help build a women-friendly city. Gwangsan-gu announced on the 29th that it will be recruiting 40 members for the 6th Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group from April 1 to 30.
The Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group is responsible for proposing gender equality policies, improving everyday environments, and promoting family-friendly initiatives. In particular, the 6th group will carry out campaigns for work-life balance, promote the activation of community care projects, and conduct activities to identify areas vulnerable to women's safety. In addition, in cooperation with Gwangsan Police Station, the group will take the lead in preventing sex crimes in the area, such as detecting illegal cameras in public restrooms and conducting safety checks on women's safe routes home. Promotion of projects for single-women households will also be a key focus.

The term of the Citizen Participation Group is two years, from May 22, 2024, to May 21, 2027. Any Gwangsan-gu resident aged 19 or older who is interested in women-friendly and gender equality policies can apply. In particular, the district will prioritize the selection of people with disabilities and immigrants to ensure diversity among participants.
Applicants wishing to participate can submit an application form stating their motivation either in person to the Women and Children Division of Gwangsan-gu, or via email or Naver Form. The results of the selection will be individually notified in May, and the final selected members will begin their activities in June after completing training.
Park Byungkyu, the head of the district, said, "The Citizen Participation Group plays an important role in developing policies that enable women, families, and the local community to grow together," adding, "We look forward to active participation from citizens to create a sustainable women-friendly city."
Meanwhile, Gwangsan-gu has been designated as a women-friendly city three times, in 2012, 2017, and 2022.
