Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province has decided to urgently allocate 2 billion KRW from its disaster reserve fund to support residents who lost their homes in the large-scale wildfire that occurred on the 25th.
Cheongsong County reported that the wildfire, which started in Uiseong on the 22nd, spread beyond Andong to Cheongsong, resulting in the destruction of over 9,000 hectares of its jurisdiction so far, with more than 700 houses, commercial buildings, and warehouses reduced to ruins.
This reserve fund will be urgently used to provide temporary housing facilities for residents who lost their homes to the fire.
Additionally, Cheongsong County has decided to suspend the ongoing plan for the first supplementary budget of 2025 and, in consultation with the Cheongsong County Council, focus its resources on wildfire recovery and support, enabling a swift response to disaster recovery.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "We will urgently allocate the disaster reserve fund so that residents in the affected areas can return to their daily lives as soon as possible, and we will devote all our efforts to recovery, including the demolition of damaged facilities, restoration of crops, and maintenance of infrastructure."
