The Yeongdeok wildfire occurred as a result of the wildfire that broke out on the 22nd in Anpyeong-myeon, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk.
On the 28th, the forestry authorities deployed 26 firefighting helicopters, 70 firefighting vehicles, and 1,007 firefighting personnel to successfully extinguish the main fire.
A representative from the Headquarters said, “Due to the dry spring weather and strong winds, even a small spark can quickly spread into a large wildfire,” and urged “the public’s interest and participation in wildfire prevention.”
Meanwhile, Article 53 of the Forest Protection Act stipulates that even wildfires caused by minor negligence can result in imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million won for the person responsible for causing the wildfire.
