Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province has completely canceled the 2025 Goryeong Daegaya Festival, which was scheduled to be held at the Daegaya Historical Theme Park from the 28th to the 30th.
On the 26th, Goryeong County convened an emergency meeting and decided to cancel the Daegaya Festival in order to express condolences for the casualties caused by the recent large-scale wildfire and to respond to the national disaster situation.
The county plans to provide full support for wildfire damage in areas such as Uiseong, Andong, Yeongdeok, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Gimcheon in North Gyeongsang Province, following the Korea Forest Service's issuance of a "severe" level national wildfire disaster alert for all regions on the 25th. The county will maintain close cooperation with related agencies to prevent wildfires in the region and will mobilize all available resources to do its utmost in wildfire prevention activities.
County Governor Lee Namcheol said, "We ask for your understanding that the festival has been inevitably canceled due to the national disaster situation and out of respect for the many victims of the large-scale wildfire," and added, "We extend our condolences to all those affected by the disaster and wish for a swift return to normal life."
