Han Duck-soo Issues Emergency Orders on Wildfire
"Take Direct Care of Disaster Victims On Site"
Prime Minister and Acting President Han Duck-soo urgently instructed Ko Ki-dong, Acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, on the morning of the 27th to stay in the Gyeongbuk region and take overall command of the wildfire response.
On the same day, Acting President Han urgently instructed Acting Minister Ko, saying, "In a situation where tens of thousands of disaster victims have occurred due to the worst wildfire in history, stay in the Gyeongbuk region until the wildfire is contained and take overall command of related operations to ensure that relief and support for the disaster victims proceed without disruption," the Prime Minister's Office announced.
Acting President Han expressed concern, saying, "Among the disaster victims, there are many elderly people, including patients in nursing hospitals," and urged, "Please directly oversee the health and safety of the disaster victims on site and activate an efficient support system so that wildfire suppression personnel and volunteers do not become exhausted."
