The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization will hold a seminar titled "Yojeum Dese: Tomorrow's Travel Seen Through Today's Data" on the 27th at the Ferrum Hall in Ferrum Tower, Seoul.
More than 200 tourism industry stakeholders, including government agencies, local governments, public institutions, and tourism companies, will attend to share the latest tourism trends and discuss data-driven tourism marketing strategies.
The seminar will begin with a lecture by invited speaker Song Gil-young, a writer, in a special session. Song Gil-young will present on the new trend where the unique value of localities is gaining attention in the global market under the theme "Era Forecast: Becoming Local and Global."
In the first session that follows, Park Hyun-young, head of the Life Change Observatory at Vibe Company, will introduce "Why Korea is Enthusiastic About Festivals" based on big data analysis of domestic festivals. Namgung Woo, team leader at Kakao Mobility, will analyze data accumulated on the foreigner-only global mobility platform k.ride to present "Movement Trends of Foreign Tourists."
In the second session, Dr. Ryu Seol-ri from the Tourism Data Service Team of the Korea Tourism Organization will present nine representative inbound tourism themes expected to be growth drivers for Korean tourism in 2025, based on survey results targeting foreigners residing overseas. Following this, Dr. Kang Jae-wan from the Tourism Consulting Team will present analysis results categorizing regional tourists based on movement and consumption patterns from over 250 local governments.
Lee Mi-sook, head of the Tourism Data Strategy Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "As the importance of data in the tourism industry continues to grow, we hope participants gain various insights through this seminar," adding, "The Korea Tourism Organization plans to hold quarterly seminars on data topics to provide practical support for regional tourism policy development and data marketing."
