On the 27th, Seoul City announced that it had approved a revised version of the Yongdu Station Area District Unit Plan related to the 'Yongdu Station Area Revitalization Project' in the area of 33-1 Yongdu-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, at the 5th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting.
The project site is adjacent to the Dongdaemun District Office and is currently operated entirely as Homeplus Yongdu Branch. Considering the characteristics of the site located in the Cheongnyangni-Wangsimni metropolitan center, the city introduced various mixed functions such as residential, cultural, commercial, office, and neighborhood living facilities.
Through the station area revitalization project, 408 apartment units will be built in a building with 6 basement floors and 49 above-ground floors, along with a performance hall and retail facilities. A 500-seat performance hall (cultural and assembly facility) will also be constructed. With the establishment of a cultural and artistic space, which was lacking in Dongdaemun-gu, it is expected that local residents will have more opportunities to experience cultural events.

The city arranged the main building considering the Cheonggyecheon landscape and the surrounding area's skyline. Open spaces such as a front plaza and public pedestrian pathways will also be created.
A Seoul city official said, "Through this Yongdu Station Area Revitalization Project, the project site will emerge as a new center of Dongdaemun-gu where residential, cultural, and commercial functions harmonize," adding, "It is expected to greatly contribute not only to the convenience of local residents but also to the creation of a vibrant space."
