The Fourth Session of 'Art Policy Stories at 3 PM'
Discussion on Strategies for the 'Basic Plan for the Promotion of Performing Arts'
On the 27th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the fourth session of 'Art Policy Stories at 3 PM' at the Artist's House in Daehangno, Seoul, to gather diverse opinions on performing arts policies. 'Art Policy Stories at 3 PM' is a weekly Thursday meeting where the Ministry introduces ongoing art policies and collects field opinions from the arts community.
At this meeting, two key strategies from the 'Basic Plan for the Promotion of Performing Arts (2025?2029),' scheduled to be announced in the first half of this year, will be discussed: 'Nurturing Core Players for the Global Stage' and 'Innovating the Region-Centered Performing Arts Support System.'

First, the Ministry will explain the overall direction of establishing the 'Basic Plan for the Promotion of Performing Arts,' followed by a discussion on strategies for overseas expansion of performing arts. The agenda includes ▲tailored overseas expansion support measures by performing arts sector ▲capacity building for young artists at different career stages ▲linking the Seoul Art Market and the Seoul International Performing Arts Festival.
In the subsequent discussion on innovating the region-centered performing arts support system, opinions will be gathered on ▲collaborative efforts between central and regional governments to develop regional base theaters at the level of national theaters ▲the effectiveness and improvement measures of the regional representative arts group development project launched last year ▲plans to create sector-specific market hubs by expanding the scale of regional representative international performing arts festivals.
Panelists include Park In-geon, Director of the National Theater; Choi Sang-ho, Director of the National Opera Company; Kim Joo-won, Artistic Director of the Busan Opera House Ballet Company; Kang Ryang-won, Director of Arko Arts Theater; Kim Myung-kyu, Special Professor at Chosun University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation; and Kim Shin-ah, Director of the National Asia Culture Center Foundation.
Shin Eun-hyang, Art Policy Officer at the Ministry, stated, "Through this public hearing, we will incorporate various policy suggestions and field voices for tailored overseas expansion support by sector and the creation of a regional performing arts ecosystem into the 'Basic Plan for the Promotion of Performing Arts,' and include practical policies that support the future growth of our performing arts."
