Discussion on Educational Policies Including Request for Reduction of Electricity Rates for Educational Use

The Chungnam Office of Education announced on the 26th that the 101st National Council of Metropolitan and Provincial Superintendents of Education General Assembly will be held on the 27th at Boryeong Mud Theme Park in Boryeong, with superintendents from 17 cities and provinces across the country gathering to discuss pressing educational issues.
This general assembly, hosted by the National Council of Metropolitan and Provincial Superintendents of Education and organized by the Chungnam Office of Education, will serve as a venue for superintendents from each region to discuss various educational policy issues. Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam, and Hong Seonghyeon, Chairman of the Chungnam Provincial Council, are scheduled to attend.
During the assembly, discussions will be held on proposals such as: issuing work visas for international students at vocational high schools, requesting a reduction in electricity rates for educational use, proposing amendments to the law on the establishment and operation of private institutes and tutoring, and amending regulations regarding the organization and staffing standards of local educational administrative agencies.
In addition, following a proposal to amend the Teacher Status Act related to joint deliberation by regional teacher rights protection committees, the assembly will deliberate and vote on the 2024 fiscal year income and expenditure settlement (draft) of the National Council of Metropolitan and Provincial Superintendents of Education, along with various other educational agenda items.
Kim Jicheol, Superintendent of Chungnam Office of Education, stated, "As cooperation and communication between metropolitan and provincial offices of education become even more important in the rapidly changing educational environment, I hope this general assembly will serve as an opportunity to share diverse opinions from the field and to formulate more effective policies."
Meanwhile, the National Council of Metropolitan and Provincial Superintendents of Education continues to engage in various discussions for educational development based on close cooperation among local offices of education, and plans to strengthen the foundation of local educational autonomy through collaboration with the Ministry of Education and central government agencies.
