Yeongju City to Fully Implement Comprehensive Child Safety Measures

Comprehensive Safety Policies in Four Key Areas:
Traffic, Food, Facilities, and Education

Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province will actively implement comprehensive safety policies in four areas?traffic safety, food safety, facility safety, and safety education?so that children in the region can grow up in a safer environment, in accordance with the 2025 Comprehensive Child Safety Implementation Plan.

This plan has been established in line with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 1st Comprehensive Child Safety Plan (2022?2026) and North Gyeongsang Province's 2025 implementation plan. It serves as an action strategy that concretizes Yeongju’s policy direction as a child-friendly city, as part of efforts to create a “city that is good for giving birth to and raising children.”

In the area of traffic safety, 32 traffic safety guards will be assigned to 12 elementary schools to prevent accidents within child protection zones. Their activities will include ▲guiding children across crosswalks ▲encouraging compliance with traffic signals and speed limits ▲protecting children from unprotected right-turning vehicles, thereby ensuring the safety of child pedestrians.

For food safety, the “Food Rainbow” program will offer ▲musical education to prevent picky eating ▲parent-child cooking experiences ▲field trips to production sites, and other activities aimed at improving eating habits. About 500 children are expected to participate, fostering the development of healthy dietary practices.

In facility safety, six children’s activity spaces will be inspected for compliance with environmental safety standards. Safety education focused on practical skills such as first aid and CPR will be provided to staff at children’s facilities to enhance their on-site response capabilities.

The safety education sector will feature experiential content tailored to children’s perspectives. Programs such as a “child crime prevention musical performance” for preschoolers and the “Children’s Safety Golden Bell Quiz Competition” for upper-grade elementary students will combine education and play, naturally raising children’s safety awareness through participation.

A Yeongju City official stated, “Child safety is not just about guidance, but about creating an environment and providing practical education that can be felt in daily life,” adding, “We will do our best to make Yeongju a city that is great for raising children through action-oriented policies.”
