The Integrated Defense Council is a meeting held quarterly to integrate national defense elements and unify command systems in preparation for local crises and regional provocations.
Starting this year, the council plans to move away from the previous method of holding meetings in the city hall situation room and instead rotate among various institutions to facilitate more field-centered discussions.
The meeting held on the 24th was attended by Mayor Kang Su-hyun and about 40 council members, beginning with an introduction of military equipment and informal talks among institution heads, followed by the introduction of ex officio members due to personnel changes, and discussions on military unit agenda items.
Additionally, an award ceremony for distinguished service in integrated defense operations was held, along with viewing a unit introduction video and a session to raise awareness about recent issues such as waste balloons and ultra-light flying devices.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun emphasized, "Maintaining a solid defense posture in any crisis situation is the top priority to protect the safety of our citizens," adding, "Civilians, government, military, police, and fire departments will unite to establish a flawless response system and strengthen security measures with a strong sense of responsibility and mission."
