Full-scale Launch of the Housing Benefit Repair and Maintenance Project
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 25th that it will officially launch the "2025 Housing Benefit Repair and Maintenance Project" this month to stabilize housing for low-income homeowners living in aging residential areas.
On the 5th, Pocheon City signed a consignment agreement for the repair and maintenance benefit project with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) Northern Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters (Head Kim Sung-yeon) to ensure expertise in housing improvement projects and systematic management.
According to the agreement, Pocheon City will bear the project costs necessary for housing repairs, and the LH Northern Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters will handle overall project tasks such as establishing annual repair plans, ordering construction, and supervising. Both organizations plan to maintain a cooperative system.
The repair and maintenance benefit project supports home renovations based on housing deterioration and income level for housing benefit recipients living in owner-occupied homes with a median income of 48% or less (approximately 2.92 million KRW for a family of four).
Support is provided up to KRW 5.9 million for minor repairs, KRW 10.95 million for moderate repairs, and KRW 16.01 million for major repairs, assisting with overall housing improvements such as wallpapering and flooring, windows, bathrooms, kitchens, and roof renovations.
Since 2016, Pocheon City has improved the living environments of about 780 households, and this year, it plans to carry out customized home renovations for 89 households with a total budget of 730 million KRW.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "We will do our best to promote the project so that citizens living in poor housing conditions can live in more comfortable and safe spaces," and added, "We will continue to actively identify households in need of housing support and strive to improve housing welfare."
Meanwhile, those who are struggling financially and wish to receive housing cost support can apply for housing benefits by visiting the administrative welfare center in their registered residential area or through the Bokjiro website.
