The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it has established and will actively implement the “2025 Basic Plan for Anti-Corruption and Integrity Policy” to realize transparent and ethical education in Daejeon.

This plan focuses on addressing weaknesses identified in the 2024 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment in order to achieve a first-grade rating in the overall integrity evaluation.

In particular, to foster an integrity culture led by senior officials, the plan will emphasize on-site support for exemplary and fair conduct by introducing initiatives such as the “Integrity Relay Campaign with Senior Officials,” the “Senior Officials’ Integrity Pledge,” and the newly established “Conflict of Interest Self-Assessment” system, which allows for continuous monitoring of potential conflicts of interest.

To secure momentum for promoting integrity policies, the office will operate an “Anti-Corruption and Integrity Policy Planning Group” led by the Superintendent and involving department heads, while each district education support office will independently form and operate its own “Anti-Corruption and Integrity Strategy Task Force” in addition to the main office’s task force.

Additionally, customized integrity training will be provided for senior officials and others, and the “Guidelines for Eradicating Gapjil Practices” will be revised to include criteria for judgment, procedures for handling cases, and examples of Gapjil, in order to raise awareness and enhance prevention.

Lee Chawon, Director of Audit at the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “Last year, thanks to the all-out efforts of the entire education community, we achieved a second-grade rating for integrity. This year, we will listen more closely to voices in the field and implement integrity policies that support the field so that an integrity culture can take root, aiming to reach the top first-grade rating.”
