Chungnam Governor Kim Taeheum met with ruling and opposition party local district lawmakers on the 25th to request support for securing national funds, including the government’s supplementary budget proposal.
At a policy seminar hosted by the province at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building in Yeouido that day, Governor Kim said, “To promote the core projects of the 8th popularly elected administration, we have set next year’s government budget target at a record-high 12.3 trillion won,” and urged, “Please make efforts so that projects not included this year can be reflected in the supplementary budget as well.”
The briefing was attended by Democratic Party lawmakers Moon Jinseok, Kang Hoonshik, Uh Kigoo, and Lee Jungmoon, as well as People Power Party lawmakers Jang Donghyuk, Kang Seungkyu, and Sung Iljong.
The budgets requested by the province for support to promote core projects included 25 items for the supplementary budget, 48 items for next year’s government budget, and 19 items related to regional issues and major bills.
Proposed projects for the supplementary budget included the establishment of Chungnam National University Naepo Campus, the establishment of a Science Gifted High School in Chungnam Innovation City, and the construction of the National Defense Future Aviation Research Center.
In addition, support was requested for securing budgets for 32 new projects for next year, including the construction of Asan Police Hospital, establishment of the National Institute of Dental Research, creation of the Chungnam-style Fisheries Food Cluster, connection of the Seohae Line to the Gyeongbu High-Speed Line (KTX), and the 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo.
