Yeongju Holds 'Tree Sharing' Event... Distributes Around 9,000 Trees for Free

Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province will hold a 'Tree Sharing' event at the Seocheon riverside area (inline skating rink under Yeongju Bridge) on the 27th at 10 a.m. to celebrate the 80th Arbor Day.

This event is co-hosted with the Yeongju National Forest Management Office of the Southern Regional Forest Service and is designed to raise awareness about the importance of forests and to promote a culture where citizens plant and nurture trees themselves.

On the day of the event, about 9,000 seedlings of 21 species, including Cheongdanpung and Baekcheoljjuk, will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with each person receiving around eight seedlings. In addition, a campaign to prevent spring wildfires will be held to raise public awareness.

An official from Yeongju City said, "We hope this event will convey the joy of tree planting to citizens and help them find emotional stability," adding, "We will continue to hold tree sharing events every year to create a green environment for future generations."

The Yeongju City Forestry Cooperative will operate a 'Tree Market' until April 6. At the tree market in Sangmang-dong, Yeongju City, about 100 varieties and a total of 50,000 seedlings, including landscaping and fruit trees, will be supplied at affordable prices.
