Opening the First KLPGA Tournament Without Advertising Boards
KLPGA Domestic Season Opener Returns to Busan After 18 Years
Doosan Construction announced on the 25th that it will host the ‘Doosan Construction We’ve Championship,’ the domestic opening event of the KLPGA Tour, at Busan Dongnae Benest Golf Club for four days starting from the 3rd of next month.
Now in its third year, the ‘Doosan Construction We’ve Championship’ is the domestic opening event of the KLPGA Tour held in Busan for the first time in 18 years. This tournament will feature all players ranked within the top 60 in the 2024 KLPGA season prize money rankings who are active in Korea, including Shin Ji-ae, who has recorded a total of 65 wins.
Typically, tournament organizers generate revenue by installing advertising boards on the course, but the PGA Masters, one of the four major global tournaments, does not install advertising boards so that both players and galleries can fully focus on golf. The Doosan Construction We’ve Championship will also be the first KLPGA event to not install advertising boards. This is to allow players to perform at their best and for galleries to enjoy the competition more comfortably.
Busan, where the domestic opening event is held, holds special significance for Doosan Construction. Doosan Construction has supplied about 17,000 residential units in Busan, including Haeundae Doosan We've the Zenith (up to 80 floors, 300m), and plans to supply an additional 4,000 units within the year. Through this tournament, the company aims to further strengthen its brand value in the Busan area.
Doosan Construction has also prepared special benefits for residents of Doosan We’ve and Zenith brand apartments nationwide during the tournament period. Among the galleries, residents of these brand apartments will receive coffee and chicken coupons that can be used at the tournament venue. Doosan Construction has also regularly held fan signings and golf lessons for residents through its golf team.
To operate the tournament in an eco-friendly manner, Doosan Construction introduced a mobile entry system to minimize paper use. The absence of advertising boards also reduces waste generated after the tournament. Shuttle buses will be operated from Namsan Station on Busan Subway Line 1 to encourage galleries to use public transportation.
Marking its 65th anniversary, Doosan Construction will also carry out meaningful social contribution activities. It will donate 6.5% of the gallery ticket sales revenue and accumulate 500,000 KRW (up to 20 million KRW) as a donation each time a tee shot lands in the We’ve Zone created at the 10th hole of the tournament course, which will be delivered to the local community. Together with KLPGA fans, the company will run the ‘Wear&Share’ campaign, meaning ‘let’s practice sharing just by wearing.’ All proceeds from the sale of player support T-shirts prepared through the campaign will be donated, and various sharing activities will be carried out.
Doosan Construction said, "Just as Haeundae Doosan We’ve the Zenith has established itself as a representative residential facility in the Busan area, we hope that the ‘Doosan Construction We’ve Championship’ will also become a representative sports event of Busan. We ask for much support and interest so that this tournament can become a festival where players can showcase their best skills and golf fans can enjoy together."
