A space to alleviate parents' concerns about weekend childcare will open in Gwangju. The Gwangju Office of Education announced on the 25th that it will open the 'Neulpum Base Neulbom Center,' a facility dedicated to weekend childcare, at Hyodong Elementary School in Gwangju on April 5.

This project, aimed at resolving the Neulbom blind spots and flexibly responding to childcare demands, involves the Office of Education remodeling an annex of Hyodong Elementary School since last year. The center will operate every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 5 to December 28, excluding legal and temporary holidays.

The programs offered include a total of six activities: book play, English play, art activities, music activities, play activities, and Hanja activities. All classes and meals, including snacks, will be provided free of charge. The opening ceremony is scheduled for mid-April.

Parents wishing to use the childcare service can apply on the Gwangju Office of Education Neulbom Support Center website on the fourth Monday and Wednesday of each month. However, in cases where emergency childcare is needed due to illness or family events, parents can use the service after submitting supporting documents and receiving approval on any Monday or Wednesday.

Superintendent Lee Jungseon said, "We will support students and parents so they can flexibly use childcare services as needed," and added, "We will do our best to ensure the stable operation of the base-type Neulbom Center."
