Local children's centers are child welfare facilities that provide comprehensive care services to children in the community who need after-school care. Currently, 20 local children's centers are operating in Gimpo, serving 479 children.

Among these, Gimpo City selected 14 local children's centers with long operation periods after installation and registration, which were judged to urgently need environmental improvements. Each center will receive up to 10 million KRW for services including ▲improving facility energy efficiency (lighting, heating, etc.) ▲replacing wallpaper and flooring (wooden floors) ▲kitchen and restroom repairs and renovations ▲child safety facilities (fire safety equipment and asbestos removal) repairs ▲and door replacements for enhanced insulation.

Through this support for improving the environments of the 14 local children's centers, children at these centers will be able to receive care and engage in learning activities in a much more comfortable environment.

Kim Byung-su, Mayor of Gimpo City, said, “I hope that the dreams of children who will lead the future will grow vigorously in the newly renovated comfortable spaces. We will continue to take an active interest and provide strong support so that children at local children's centers can receive care in a safe and pleasant environment and grow up healthily.”
